China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group Corporation and COFCO Group Co., Ltd. are using the livestock and poultry waste biogas comprehensive utilization project from livestock farms as an entry point, leveraging their respective strengths to cooperate and jointly build a biogas comprehensive utilization demonstration base. The plan is to reach cumulative installed capacity of 30MW and 50MW respectively by 2012 and 2014. It will become the largest demonstration base for comprehensive biogas utilization in China.
On June 9, 2010, China Energy Conservation and COFCO Group jointly established a joint venture company, "COFCO New Energy Co., Ltd.", with a registered capital of 50 million yuan, and China Energy Conservation holding 80% of the shares; COFCO Group holds 20%. The establishment of this company marks China Energy Conservation's official entry into the comprehensive utilization of biogas in poultry and livestock farming. By the end of 2010, COFCO Group will complete 11 supporting biogas comprehensive utilization projects in Wuhan, Jiangsu, and Tianjin, with an investment of about 200 million yuan and an installed capacity of 8MW.
Comprehensive utilization of biogas from farms is a comprehensive foundational industry, built on the foundation of the traditional economy to build a circular economy industrial chain. Forming recycling industries such as animal husbandry, crop cultivation, and processing services. This project is an energy-saving and emission-reduction environmental protection initiative encouraged by national policies, and also serves agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. As the only specialized industrial group among China's central enterprises with energy conservation and environmental protection as its main business, China Energy Conservation's development of the biogas comprehensive utilization project aligns with national energy conservation and emission reduction policies, aligns with the company's main business development direction, and aligns with SASAC's role positioning as a leading demonstration in energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection for China Energy Conservation.
The large-scale biogas comprehensive utilization and solar photovoltaic power generation projects in cooperation between China Energy Conservation and COFCO Group are based on China Energy Conservation's technological strength in new energy and COFCO's scale resource advantages in livestock and poultry farms, jointly promoting the development of biogas comprehensive utilization in farms. The National Development and Reform Commission's Energy Bureau has also given high attention and support, hoping that China Energy Conservation will play a leading and exemplary role in the process of the biogas power generation industry moving from its initial stage to industrialization.
In the future, China Energy Conservation and COFCO Group will take the opportunity of comprehensive biogas utilization cooperation to further expand COFCO Group's downstream industrial waste disposal, and carry out comprehensive strategic cooperation in energy-saving and environmental protection fields, including solar energy, biomass energy, and energy-saving retrofits. Achieve strong alliances, striving to build cooperative projects into national demonstration projects for energy-based biogas utilization, as well as models for circular economy and new energy development.
